I got some blue barrels, 50g drums, What is a good way of cleaning them out. I just want to make sure these are safe to use. Because my fish will be living in them and I will be eating the plants. * 2 of barrels held Clove Oil, I have been reading that large quantities of this can be bad for you, but people also tote it's healthy abilities. * 1 had Jungbunzlauer, (company name) gluconic acid- this seams to be more of food application - best barrel I got - or safest). * 2 from Stepan (company name) with something called Agnet 879-72, the product class is Anionic.nonionic detergent. I see the word detergent and I think soap. Though I got a feeling what was in these (still clinging to the bottem), might be a bit more toxic. From what I understand this was liquid was used at a car wash. Left a message for the Stepan company for information on this (not on there website). So Any ideas. This stuff suds up like there is no tomorrow. Got any suggestions? |

Personally I'd ditch the detergent barrels for something a little easier. Clove oil is used for sedating fish, you will want to clean this out pretty well, but I would think it should clean alright. Barrels are easier to clean if you figure out how you want to cut them for your system, cut them, then clean them once you have good access. |

Yeah I am not going to use the detergency ones. Don't think it would be safe, figure turning them into trash cans That will leave me with a few left. |

I just use heavy duty dish soap, a heavy duty scrubber brush, and lots of water to clean my barrels. |
