OK here goes. I have a quite heavily stocked set up and my Barra are just getting bigger and bigger. One of my FT's feeds NFT channels and the piping drops to a 4mm retic pipe on the feed side of the channels. I am having issues with the smaller tubes blocking up every 3 days with gunk.

I am considering adding a Claritec 5000 Pressure Filter on the feed line to remove any "heavies" and also add some biological control. I will also upgrade my pump to be able to pump a little more sludge and scales around.

This web site gives a good overview of the filter.

Any thoughts or experience out there with this kind of set up?

Cheers Wal

Should work well Wal. I have one and have used it in a few different situations but it does clean up the water going through it well.
With the volume you might be putting through it , a back flush every couple of weeks would probably be needed but its not a biggy.
