Comet Bay Primary School celebrated 5 years with an open day today. Their was fun and games for the children, and the place was abuzz with activities including an interschool cook off with Bertram and Harmony Primary schools. There were cars everywhere and the sounds of children playing created a great atmosphere. Ros was very keen to take me to see how well their aquaponics system was coming along, and of course I managed a couple of happy snaps to share with you all.

I bet the children get a kick out of these carrots. They had been donated as seedlings, which surprises me as I had only ever grown carrots from seed. This might explain why they are wrapped around each other, I reckon they would be well suited to having captions added.

Purple beans had been grown and some seed pods dried on the bush before being harvested. Ros was pleased to tell me that they just planted them straight back in the bed and the result is these recently germinated bean plants, what a great lesson for the children.

What goes around, comes around Charlie :thumbright:
Comet Bay Primary School has been an exceptional group of teachers as well as parents that have really got behind learning about aquaponics and came to the display centre one Saturday afternoon in their own time to find out more, it was kind of a mini workshop. They have a headmaster called Matt that is very supportive and another teacher named Nicole, we caught up on the SAKGF tour day. They love what they do and it shows. :flower:

That's awesome to see, every primary school should have one, there is not enough real life lessons being taught in our schools today.
