Mary wanted a one bed system. She is a keen home gardener with several semi mature fruit trees and a small 'vegie patch'. After years of adding fertilizers and mulches to her soil only to have to reapply them months later, Mary wanted something that wasn't going to 'break the bank'.
Instead of applying heaps of mulch and fertilizers to her 'vegie patch', Mary only needs to feed her fish half a handful twice a day. Everything that goes into an aquaponic system stays in the system until you harvest crops or remove plants.
On top of having fresh vegetables year round Mary can also benefit from having fresh fish on special occasions.
