Still think tides are the answer. Run a big enough trench inland and let the water movement make the power. If enough countries used this form or power then it might slow the rising sea levels.

:laughing3: I know, they are just so beautiful. Especially in the desert.

I like how they could use them in water too.

Great concept!

Hopefully it is not like the cool concept cars at the car show, that really only represent a thought experiment but not all of the technology has been invented that is required to make it work.

It seems to me that they continue to move towards bigger and bigger, and more centralized vs. decentralized. I recognize the profit motive and economy of scale to pay of the initial investment, but in the end a decentralized power structure is much more sustainable and less vulnerable to crazies with car bombs.

Anyone know how close they are to a proof of concept demonstration?

I wonder how scaleable it is?

Cool :headbang: -Would having a sail between poles or a banner on each cause more flex and generate more power? Even making the columns absorb heat would cause them to be more flexible and again generate more electricity. Perhaps carbon fiber nano-springs (if they exist).

Neat idea and on the right track as far as birds are concerned.

I also like the solar tower idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tWlP0knKQU

I understand Enviro Mission is planning on building a pair of solar towers in Arizona as well.

This concept got me thinking  I wonder if it would be possible to convert wind energy harnessed from trees? This lead me to wonder about the various mechanisms that might make this possible and I started doing some research.

I thought some of you might be interested in this:

Not wind energy as such, and probably not highly useful amounts of energy, but pretty cool nonetheless.

Is it just me, or did anyone else think "Flea powder ad" when looking at the second photo.

Very cool concept though :thumbright:

The concept is that it would be an area town playground where turbines could not be built. Also, wind turbines are a thing but have some serious concerns. They are actually injuring the environment by eliminating wildlife and bats. The concept of natural energy is to harm the environment as little as possible, while be able to live a typical life. This is a great concept.
