I think this is pretty closely related to aquaponics, only its for processing human waste. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7bVx8FBx5s I looks to just be a series of deep water culture tanks that draw water off the tops and bottoms and return it to a previous stage then allow the cleaner middle water to go forward to the text stage. What a aquaponian way to process waste! |

I've seen a wetland that filtered sewage so it could be used again to flush toilets and to water plants. It is a very efficient way of filtering sewage, but it is not very aquaponic as over half the nitrogen going into the beds leaves the system as a gas (not as plant growth). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constructed_wetland |
