Not AP related... My woolly bush fell over in December, it was on a verge that faces west so is exposed to sun all day and especially the last blast of PM sun, together with strong seabreeze winds. I'm looking for a replacement that will hopefully - screen the front yard from the road (ideally up to 4m high 2m wide) - produce something useful (fruit, edible leaves etc) - provide screening all year (ie evergreen) - be reasonably drought tolerant (will get watered lightly from retic twice a week + the odd dash of AP water) - be reasonably fast to establish (don't want to wait 7 years for a screen) Anyone got any ideas? I was thinking either Lilly Pilly or Feijoa, though think the latter is slow to grow and some stuff I read on Lilly Pilly was that they liked sheltered positions. Cheers Matt |

I like the idea of Feijoa. I have an Indian Guava out the front and it gets no water at all yet it's grown pretty well. Fruit are beautiful, VERY aromatic and plentiful. I don;t tend to eat them a lot, rather just stick them inside for the smell. Also leaves are supposed to be good for colds/flue, had a big Samoan knock on my door one night asking if he could pick some leaves because his daughter had a cold and that's what they used back home. |

Thanks Joel - does it cop the wind in that position? |

Cool - they're probably worse than the seabreeze anyhow. |
