Thought I would pass on an observation I have seen with my fish and composting worms. I have an aquaponics setup into which I occasionally pour some of the worm juice from my worm farm. I have found that the entrachyadids (little white worms) that come with the worm juice have started to breed very well in the aquaponics growing beds. These little suckers are swept through the system and end up in with the fish. What amazes me is that since the entrachyadids have been in the pond, the fish hardly eat any of the fish food I put in and in fact I have to suck the remnant food out to stop it polluting the water. I have about 20 250-500gm Silver Perch left and I give them 1-2 teaspoons of fish food a day and most of this is not eaten. I can only sumize that the fish...which are doing very well I must say, are pigging out on the worms. I have dressed out a couple of the Silver Perch and they have so much fat inside them. I understand that having entrachyadids in a worm farm indicates an acidic situation, however, no-one has told the composting worms or the fish and they are both doing very well indeed. Anyone had a similar experience? Cheers, Jeff |

Welcome to the forum I guess I had a similar experience with my first systems as I put in a fair bit of worm juice and my little silvers and catfish grew quite well even over winter Interesting thoughts |
