Dear Chelle
Thankyou very much for a brilliant reply :)
I had the Australian customs open and check the package I got from USA, and apart from various stickers telling me that I should have applied first, they let it through without a problem. So I shall try your contact.
cheers
Andrew

BRB - satsuma is a plum??

It's a citrus tree that makes a fruit like a manderine only the pealing is much thicker and keeps longer.

Either a plum or citrus fruit. Dr Who used a satsuma (citrus) as a weapon in one episode, we enjoy satsuma and improved satsuma (mariposa) plums out here & just grafted some today.

Mile a minute seeds I filed one side back and soaked for 4hrs in warm water. Then planted in damp potting mix.

Learning for me... There is a Satsuma orange and a Satsuma plum cool. Never heard of the plum around here. Satsuma oranges are real common along the gulf coast.

Apple Trees, Granny Smith hasn't even come out of winter dormant yet. It was supposed to be a rooster tree but it blooms 2 months out of sync from the yellow. You see the ropes holding it up. I have to prune it desperately especially since it broke so many roots. The yellow made 4 apples last year. Katrina blew it over and I never got around to standing it back up. I'm going to have to prune it to reshape it. It has blossoms. I should have gotten two yellows.

Well my blue berry bushes have been in decline because my soil ph is 7.5 and they like it around 5.5. I have the soil acidifying fertilizer, but didn't use it, been too busy. The fig tree took about 4 years to get a good root system then it took off. An older neighbor of mine told me to throw plenty of rusty tin cans under it and mulch them in. They like plenty of iron to thrive. It worked! Also one store bought pecan tree called chocktaw and a large semi paper shell I planted from a wild pecan (from seed) Hurricane Gaustave broke a large portion off the chocktaw.

Here is the Pic of the chocktaw pecan and the big pine that got struck by lightning during Katrina. It's giving up the ghost so I'll probably get it cut down this summer. I made the raised beds out of an old above ground pool. It is aluminum and before I put them in I cut a ditch and ran water pipe and stubed up and install soaker hoses on each. I used to pine straw them and used them as strawberry beds. Worked nice except for the fact the raised beds draw ants. The other photos are where I had peach trees. They always died above the graph and only the suckers would come back. also where I lost a blue berry bush.

Now that my reconstruction work is complete on my houses in the New Orleans area I'm getting to start working on my own for a change. It feels good! I ordered 2 black hardy mulberry trees, two native plum trees and a paw paw tree yesterday to fill in some of the holes. A little acidifying fertilizer and pine straw should get my blueberries coming back. I used to have three little 8' long fences with blackberries trained along them. They don't train well and I got tired of cutting around them. I may get some more as I love blackberry Jam on toast with butter!

Here is a fruit tree link that has lots of different unusual fruit and nut trees. Some of the photo's have very interesting backgrounds especially the Medlar 8) I did say most not all! http://www.tytyga.com/category/Fruit+Trees
