What is the most environmentally friendly clothing material and where is a good place to obtain such clothing?

I am not sure but perhaps hemp clothing might be good and then if you want to take it to extremes clothing that you actually made yourself from weaving the fabric to sewing would be the most environmentally friendly.

Any ideas or thoughts on this?

Second hand clothing from an op shop? Otherwise organic cotton or wool preferably locally produced

Thanks Bender. Locally produced is a good idea. I think there is a company that used to make clothing in Australia but then they took their manufacturing overseas. A friend of mine stopped buying from them.

Haven't bought new clothes for about 12 years (apart from jocks and socks and I get them as presents).
Bamboo socks in summer and possum socks in winter, if I was to be picky.

I would think the most environmentally friendly cloth would be hemp. However, due to the fact that we have stupid regulations, I don't think you can buy Australian help cloth.. But then there's probably little to no cloth made in Australia of any sort any more I guess.

Use second hand wherever possible, people waste too much..

Don't know if it's still there, but there used to be a shop behind the Belmont forum, near the Commonwealth bank and the little supermarket there, that sold Hemp clothing and environmentally friendly clothing. No doubt there'd probably be a few in around Freakmantle if you're over that side of town.
