What is the weather like and how big is the system?

Some plants can really transpire a lot when they are trying to make the air more humid to make themselves more comfortable. Tomatoes can use up excessive amounts of water.

I don't have any exact numbers though but I generally hear my top up valves going off daily unless we get heavy rains.

so topping up 1% a day?

10 liters out of 1000

That isn't much.

I think I've heard that a single tomato plant can transpire almost that much all by it's lonesome per day if it's dry.

Ok cool thanks tcl :) I've noticed it using more water since I planted out the winter crop, about 3x more plant than the summer crop

So if you left your system for a week you would have lost 70L???? IMO you have a leak. I have put 50L in my 800L FT over nearly 2 months to keep it topped up, obviously I dont have your plant mass but seems unreasonable to me FB.
