Howdy,

I like the idea of feeding my fish duckweed instead of buying food. Can i just have it grow in the fish tank or do need to grow it in a separate container? If i grow it in the fish tank, is there a way to contain it to a certain area so i can still see in the water?

if you are using a fish that will eat vegetation, you can supplement feed with duckweed, but you need to provide a good quality feed (so the fish provide good quality fertilizer)

What Keith said :)

Another thing you might have probs with is the fact that Duckweed needs fairly still water... fish need lots of splashing and airation happening... so perhaps you could grow the duckweed in a separate container, and throw a little in as a treat every now and again?

Also if it does grow in the fish tank, the fish will make short work of it. Grow it in any spare tub, bucket etc in a warm spot and top them up with fish water .
If you can put a tub into the system and slowly circulate the fish water through it all the better

depends on the variety and your sun, we have found here that full sun is a bit harsh for it.

But there's sun and then there's sun, ours is not nice..

What about full shade? i have an ibc system with the growbed stacked above the fish tank and i'm thinking about growing it between the 2 as part of an auto feeder.

Full shade should be fine....

There's a "giant" variety of duckweed from up the NT and top end... that tolerates the sun... but dies off in southern winters...
