Post subject:  Your Growth Rates

Hi,

Can some of the experinced growers post their growth rates of commonly grown plants such as lettuce, collard greens, tomatoes, or cucumbers ( those are what I am trying to grow). I am not sure what to expect to be seeing with a properly cycled/established system. My plants have finally begun to grow 2 weeks ago after being in the grow beds for 3 weeks. I purchased the seedlings from a nursery. I know each system is different but I assume everyone will be getting good results after the sytem is established compared to soil growing.

I may try to setup some controlled groups, or move some plants back to pots from the grow beds and see if their growth slows down.

It is or course difficult to specify growth rates with any accuracy. As a rule, my plants appear to do very little during the first 3 or so weeks. Thereafter all hell breaks loose. If I had to guess, my oxheart tomatoes are doing maybe half an inch EVERY DAY.

It is my opinion that the roots need some time to figure out what is going on before getting the hang of it.
Planting some identical seedlings in a pot with soil is a great way to appreciate the fishpoop difference.

Well thats a relief. I am already seeing SOME growth such as in the squash or cucumbers that is bearly ahead of the other, potted plants. I am hopeing my system will work even though many dont use it the type I am.

growth, in my experience, takes about 3 months of cycleing to start getting good rates in a AP system

ZMAN, why dont you fill the rest of that gb up, and get some extra filtration onto the system to help it cycle???

I guess im waiting for the sprouting seeds to be a little bit bigger so i can transplant then chuck in more hydrotron. One other issue is the sag in the GB, i have been meaning to remove all the media to fix that.
