Hi yall, got the camera back so I thought I would take a few shots of some plants that have some issues. Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. I will post another pic showing black stuff on GB media where water comes out, should I be concerned about this.

The tomatos aren't a great problem... just the old "sugar" leaves dying off... remove them... in fact it's a good idea to remove any leaves below the tomato trusses... The pumpkin has powdery mildew.... get some EcoRose... might as well mix it with a bit of seasol... and foliar spray... will benefit the tomatos and things as well .. with a potassium boost... The "black" stuff under the pipe... is algae... where the water is splashing... not a great problem... but too much will limit the oxygen draw through the media... |

jdphish wrote: Looks like spotted wilt virus. Not sure. ya have to agree with jd. thats a lot of dead leaf matter. if the tomatoes had yellow blush spots like a sunburn i would say its early blight, tomatoes are prone to mildew, mould, and fungus. if it was soil i would use neem oil but not sure about AP some neem oil brands have natural pyrethern i think....do remove any brown or yellow spotting leaves from the vines and get them out of the area. |

I went and bought some Eco rose and have treated leaves, I cut the worst affected leaves off as I thought they had no hope. Does anyone know what causes the Powdery mildew , I noticed that my watermelon plants were also affected. |

Skip, I'd be willing to bet you have a little mineral deficiency. Often times weaken plants create a whole list of problems from disease to bug infestations. I would try some trace mineral supplementation. |

Well I have cleaned out all the dead leaves and stuff from tomatoe plants and pulled the tomatoe plant that was looking dead and the roots were all dirty, is this root rot ? GB looks much better with all the dead stuff gone. and should get better air flow and light through plant folliage.

do those tomatoes have a yellow blush to their tops that won't go away or ripen to red? when i see that it makes me think of early blight. the blight hit everyone hard here this past season. |
