After a disasterous start to my AP mid last year. I have had this system going since Mid December running constant flow. All has been good so far, But noticed some White spots and leafs curling and dropping off of the Capsicums. Anybody now what it is and how to correct it?

Are the white spots dry or moist and soft? These look like spots where water has splashed on the leaves and then the sun has caused a burn - could be some water stress. They could also be insect or mechanical injury - look on the undersides of leave and see if you find any insects. Do the spots get worse before the leaves fall off? The plant looks pretty good except for the spots. |

Dunno, if it's bacterial or fungal you should just pick off the effected leaves and dispose of them in the bin - I'd be doing that anyway, it stops the rest of the plant being effected (even if it's bugs you're breaking the breeding cycle). |

could not find insects on the plants. But the leaf curl seems worse. The leaves that are falling off are not badly affected some with only one brown spot. But it seems to be on all my capsicum plants. Most websites say it is a bacteria but don't say what can fix it. |

your hyrdoton looks pretty wet.. are you flooding to the very top? i think you want your flood level to be below the gravel by a couple centimeters. (an inch) |

rkdraft, I think Keith is right about your flood level and if water is splashing up on your leaves then this could be causing the spots by either promoting infection or burn by sunlight. Lower your water levels and try to keep splashing to a minimum and that might take care of this. Have you had rain lately? Are other capsicums that aren't near the end of the cover affected? The reason I asked about whether the spots were dry or moist was bacteria often cause a "soft rot" where the leaf is fleshy feeling and moist at least early in the infection. I think it's interesting that the spots don't appear to have marginal necrosis along the edge. I would also go with Gemmell's suggestion about removing affected leaves in the meanwhile. |
