I need to get my second growbed online this weekend and get some more plants in the system. Nitrates through the roof and nitrite and amonia starting to climb a bit. Already backing off feeding. I have never planted anything this late in the season. Our days are in the mid 80s poking above 90 every now and again. Overnight lows are still around 70. Within a month we will be in the 90s and 80s at night. Some good heavy feeders would be good. They could be flowers for all I care. But would prefer something we could eat.

Any suggestions?
Thanks
Mark

Sweet potatoes like the heat

Okra
Cow peas
yardlong beans
bananas
papaya
Basil
jicama
purslane
Malibar spinach (it's a vine)
Nasturtium
Marigolds
cherry tomatoes

I've even been starting cucumbers lately.

And you may find that in the AP, more things do ok over summer that you ever thought possible, especially if you add a little afternoon shade for the plants.

Get a selection of seeds, mix it all up together in a bowl and spread it over your beds with a light rustle of the media. Whatever is best suited to your immediate climate will take off like a rocket, the others will grow a little slower, but it takes the guess work out of what will grow quickest at the moment for you..

Then as you pull out the first veggies that bolted, there will be smaller plants already growing waiting to take their place.

i was thinking that would be the "easiest" way to take out the guesswork.. i imagine any seeds i already threw in got dispersed with all the rain we've had

it's supposed to warm up to the 60's this weekend! yay!!! i think i'll mix up the rest of my seeds and spread em out..
