Howdy, I am a new at this and have not dealt with this problem yet but I just did a quick search on your problem and a fungus seems to be a likely culprit. All that I have read suggests that it is caused by cool temperatures and damp leaves. Been having cold weather? It seems like the best method to control it is to physically remove the infected leaves and destroy them to slow the spread of the spores. I have also read that fungicides can be used on the leaves, though I don't know what potential negative effects this would have on the rest of the system. Are you seeing any furry growth on the leaves them selves to indicate a fungus? I also read that a potassium deficiency can cause black spots on basil as well. Maybe a potassium supplement? Hope this helps! Keep us updated on the issue! Happy growing! |
