I have a cauliflower that is growing a purple head. All the rest came from the same punnet and are growing normal white heads. The only difference perhaps is that this one is growing near some red onions, but then i've also got another one thats growing near a different patch of red onions and its growing normally. I'm at odds to explain it Any ideas?? |

There are a couple of different purple varieties. I would say one snuck in with your normal ones. |

Just found a purple cauli in the diggers club seed catalogue. Maybe they managed to get a seed mixed up? Did you grow it out F&F? Did it taste like normal cauli or abit different? Just wonderin if i should leave it and let it grow and then eat it, pull it out, or let it go to seed and see if i can't grow even more next year. I mean imagine having cauliflower and cheese thats purple? |

Quiet often, if the head of the cauliflower is small... and it colours "purple"... it ends up stunted ... You can get a purple cauliflower though... called a "Sicilian Violet"...
