Fertilizers that's easily bought in Ontario, Canada?

Post subject:  Fertilizers that's easily bought in Ontario, Canada?
I see people here mention Seasol or Maxicrop that is "AP Safe". But before I go and drive to random hardware stores, are these two brands easily found in hardware/gardening stores in Ontario, Canada?

And another quick question, I'm currently cycling with just the sump and grow bed, and as I've already started my seedlings, there are no fish wastes to fertilize the seedlings. They are roughly 2 inches tall now (cute... :)) Is supplementation during the early germination process critical for the life and quality of the plant/tree?

When seeds FIRST germinate they use the supply of energy locked up in the seed from which they germinate - this is enough to get the first bit of growth going... so the first days, not realy, but SOOON afterwards the seed expects to find nutrients - the better the start of the plants life, the better the chance of a strong plant...
But then again, Joel once had a 'runt' tom which became a wonderful producer :)
You should get nutrients in your system if at all possible - get the bacteria count up for when the fish are introduced :D

Yeah in my other thread I was asking how long it would take for fish food to break down. Hopefully I could use them as fertilizers for the time being - as I am not sure whether the fertilizers mentioned here may not be available in Canada --I might have to order online.

I got a hydroponics store nearby but anything I buy there will probably have compatibility issues with the AP system.

Oooh... hmm check this out, in their flyer: "Kelp Foliar Spray Concentrate" brand is DNF ("Dutch Nutrient Formula) isn't this similar to maxicrop? Now heres the problem... "Acts as a deterrent to many types of bugs." :mad:

does not sound good :(
A lot of stuff used for hydroponics is not good for aquaponics because of the fish side of things - not good for them... before using anything, read the contents labels... have no idea as to how available Seasol or Maxicrop are over there... perhaps some of the USA members will be able to give some inpput on that one (never been ther myself :) )
As for ammonia etc - there is always the 'pee-ponics' kick start method :lol:

Look on the label, I believe many people advertise seaweed extract as being good for all sorts of ills. I think the true reason it would act as a deterrent to bugs is that healthy plants tend to repel or survive bugs better than struggling plants.
If it is just kelp extract, then you could mix a tiny bit according to the lable in a little hand squirt bottle and spritz you seedlings once their leaves unfurl.

I've never seen seasol in the USA but Maxicrop can be found though it isn't regularly stocked in most garden centers and hardware stores. You could look online to order some. Another option, they make fertilizers for aquarium that are planted. Those fertilizers are more costly than you need but might be an option while you search. Remember that sea salt can provide most trace nutrients so if you used some of that, you might not urgently need seaweed extract. However, growing moringa, you will probably want to start searching for an iron supplement.

About the fish wastes acting as fertilizers, does it matter what type of fish food I use? Because I'm using fish food bought from pet stores.
