| Post subject: | Diluting my system |
Question...My system sits outside in south Florida in the tropics. It rains nearly every day at this time of year so the grow bed is under an eave to keep most of the rain from flooding the bed during heavy storms. Unfortunately it also blocks the afternoon sun in this position so I may be limited to growing only leafy veggies such as Chard and spinach that require less sun. My question is, If it were to sit out in the open with full exposure to our rain storms with sometimes heavy downpours, is the introduction of all that water going to have a negetive effect on the system? I just don't think it's good thing for the system to be diluted frequently since it's a closed system. I'm not concerned with overflow from the system as it will drain out and around the patio the same as current rainwater from the roof drains now. http://groups.msn.com/Aquaponics/shoebox.msnw Thanks, Dave |

Unless it is acid rain, or rain of a big ph difference from the system, it wont cause any harm. The only thing with overflows, is fish escape, or staining of the ground from ap water. I really cant see rain ( no matter how hard ) seriously harming a system. Might cause a bit of nutrient loss, but thats about it. |
