Post subject:  Seasonal Availability (gaps in the market)

The following list was updated August 2006. It applies to NZ markets.

Australia will have many similarities.

Fruit and Vegetable markets in Australia (the ones gardens sell to) will have a similar local list if they're good, they give them to restaurants.

Key:

A = Available
S = Short Supply
U = Unavailable

OMG it won't take an xls.

Patience folks this thing is gold.

Steve help, how'd you do it....

Out of season produce is always a winner, my brothinlaw works at the Perth fruit and veg market, and we have spoken extensively about the possibilities of making money from different sales. It comes down to producing out of season, if you want to sell on the open market, otherwise it's very hard to compete with all of the already established growers...

Luckily greenhouse growing can put you a step infront of some growers, and I imagine that as oil prices increase then transport will put the prices up on out of season produce thats trucked or flown in from distant places.

Here's some price info from the Perth market, quite useful...

Thanks EB. In Waikato again the funeral is Friday...

Will post the chart once I'm home again. Then can get some serious editing done too.
