Post subject:  New to AP (and gardening) - Something's wrong
I am relatively new to AP... done a lot of research, not a lot of experience yet. Built a chop and flip IBC system and did a fishless cycle. Planted some green peppers, garlic, and basil and the peppers and basil seem to have some sort of disease or pest (I have not seen any physical pests)... it looks almost like someone is burning them with a lighter.

I'm so clueless I don't even know what to search for and was hoping to get some help identifying my issue here and maybe some guidance on how to solve it...

Welcome

New to gardening , first off grow your plants "in season" sounds obvious but even a couple weeks late planting say a cauliflower can mean it "runs" to seed and you get nothing so timing is important .

So where ever you are in the world learn your growing seasons how long a particular plant takes to grow from seed to harvest and work backwards for your ideal planting time .

Because your just starting , your system needs time to build a nutrient base so "Flowering and Fruiting" plants like peppers will struggle and because they are in a weakened state every bug in the district will want to eat them that's natures way of cleaning out the weaker individuals .

Ive found over the years that capsicums are great indicator plants when they are growing well we can grow anything

Pretty boring I know but start with leafy greens for the bulk of your plants to use up your nitrates , and experiment with other plants , use foliar sprays (nutrient) to help them along , as once you start tipping stuff in your system you end up chasing your tail .

So until you have a bit of time on your pumps and have a settled PH and your water temps are in the ideal range and you have a full compliment of bacteria ect ect just relax and enjoy your new hobby . We all had the same issues when we started , and of course all I wanted was my first tomato .

Thanks for the tips all... I'll just relax then.... I do have a full compliment of greens growing (and doing quite well)... Maybe I'll grab some seaweed extract to throw in the system to help the nutrients along...
