Anyone tried the new Kalette? Kale slash Brussel sprout super food?

Super food is such a crazy term, I'm pretty sure all good fresh fruit and veg are super foods. Well at least good foods.

Have you been watching "Have You Been Paying Attention" Charlie?... I just saw Kalette mentioned on there, first I'd ever heard of it... sounds tasty!

I have but I grew them for my chickens so I don't know what they taste like. They form little brussel sprout like heads along the stem but they have frilly edges and they also have larger leaves off the stem.

I had to look that one up as well..

Kalettes are a brand-new vegetable, blooming with the best flavors of kale and brussels sprouts.

Marketers are struggling a bit.. Hmmm, combine the best flavours of kale and brussel sprouts....? Probably better focusing on the health benefits..

Hmm. They sell them in the supermarket where my wife works. I might have to get her to buy a packet to taste, just don't tell her they're part brussel sprout, she hates them.

If they're like kale, I will hate them. :-P My husband on the other hand loves kale (the fact that I'm willing to grow it for him is proof of my love!), and he's also the only person who's ever been able to cook brussel sprouts in a way I like... so if he wants to try this stuff I'll at least taste it. :shifty:

Can you hook us up with some seeds? (I did check ebay and other seed places with no luck from Australia).

:D

Dunno will have a chat and see
Not sure if they grow from seed or seedling...
Will either do?

I wouldn't complain with either :D

I have a feeling it's like Broccolini though, copyrighted, and you can't sell seeds without a license.

Had a chat and they have exclusive commercial rights so noone can buy in seeds at the moment.

Wonder if we can just buy the seeds from overseas? Are there any import laws to deal with? There are some on ebay uk.
