So I'm new to this and am likely posting in the wrong place, please forgive me if so.

I was recently given permission by my wife to set up an ap system in the backyard. Only problem is, where I was given permission to set up isn't getting great sunlight since the fall started. Now my lettuce is getting leggy and I fear this may cause more problems as time goes on. Moving the system is not an option. So I'm guessing lights are my only option. Anyone ever use lights for ap outdoors? If so, what brand, bulbs, wattage, etc? Thanks for any help.

Maybe a reflector would help?

Tell me more about a reflector. I haven't heard of that.

I was thinking you could reflect the light to the plants if you use a white board or reflective surface that is in the sun. A cheap piece of white sign board would work (about $15 for a 4 x 8 piece usually) or maybe just some white plastic. Something above and in back of but at an angle would probably increase the light even if it's not in direct sun.

If the problem is trees you might be able to open up the canopy with some strategic pruning as well. Deciduous trees will be loosing their leaves soon if they haven't already.

Search AliExpress.dot.com for. led grow lights.. there are many there.. but the unpleasant. Purpleish light could be disturbing to you and neighbours..

The alternative is that you may be able to change the concept to RAS or AC .. Aqua-culture... growing fish without plants.. capture the solids and use that. On more conventional gardens..

Awesome guys thanks so much for the advice. Gonna ty reflectors, then move to lights if necessary, and finally move the system if need be. That would give me a good excuse to build a greenhouse
