my tomatoes are riddled with these black bugs. does anybody know what they are and how do i kill them?

I don't think I've seen them but wouldn't be surprised if we have something like them .My best guess is they are a type of flea beetle. Probably giving you shotgun holes on the leaves? http://www.planetnatural.com/pest-problem-solver/garden-pests/flea-beetle-control/ |

they only seem to go for the fruit, leaves are untouched. I guess something bores a hole and lays the eggs in the fruit? |

Still wouldn't surprise me if they are flea beetles. They go for fruit as well and apparently attack early in the year which is where you are at. I don't think they're laying eggs in the fruit but might be worth a look - normally it looks like flea beetle eggs would be on the under surface of the leaves (along with about 5 million other types of critters). |
