I've got 3 out of 5 'Red Maradol' papaya seeds germinated so far! I'm not sure how I'm going to fit these into my system. I may end up just putting them in pots / containers and fertilizing frequently with fish solids and system water. I have 10 more seeds waiting to be planted. I tried rockwool grow cubes for the first five but the rest I will probably plant straight into soil pots.

Awesome, Congrats.

I was thinking of trying that with grocery store seeds, as Ive seen maradols clearly labeled lately.

I have two 90cm/3' tall red lady papayas that I bought at 30cm/12" this spring (I paid more for each plant than I would normally spend on papayas in 2 or 3 years!). They are just setting flowers now, and I don't expect to have enough heat or light in the greenhouse to fruit them this year. Everything I've read says next year should be good to go.

Are you hoping to grow through the winter for a crop next summer?

I watched a video of a guy planting seeds obtained from supermarket papayas and he got 80-90% germination, i was a little miffed because I paid something like $12 including shipping for 15 seeds.

I'm going to keep these guys growing either in my AP greenhouse system or indoors with supplemental light (because I have lots of shade on the house)
