I got about a half a cup of dickweed about a month ago. Its in a 36 in diameter kiddie pool. I use my tilapia water to grow it (when I do a partial water change in my tank I use this water). Water is about 4 inches deep and has aeration. I've fed about a half a cup to my fish as I'd like to get a good growth of this before I start using it regularly. At this point, its covering about 1/6th of the pool. Is this normal? Everywhere Ive read say you'll be covered up in this stuff and that it doubles its size every 2 days. Is there a reason mine might be growing slow? |

.. What's the temperature.. it goes to sleep in the cold.. We are going into winter and my duck weed has gone to sleep.. I think that I read where it will sink to the bottom and come good again when it warms up.. .. . |

Its still floating. The outside temp here is about 82-88F. I have not checked the water temp in the pool. Will do that and post the results. |

Don't aerate your water. Duckweed prefers still surface water. This makes a big difference in growth rate. |

It doesn't like wind either, in many lakes it will only grow in among the rushes and plants where it's protected. |

Still water, lots of sun, and lots of nutrient water rich. I give my tilapia a heaping hand of duckweed everyday. I can't keep up with the growth! |

Sounds like maybe Im not getting enough sunlight on mine. I'll move it to direct sunlight and see if that helps. |
