Hi, all. I apologize if this has already been answered but I didn't see this paging through this discussion and I couldn't think of a way to search for this without coming back with half the topics in this discussion.

Basically, which plants grow better in NFT vs. DWC vs. media fill beds? Some are a bit obvious (i.e.: no root veggies in NFT), and some have already been answered (leafy greens work well in NFT). Is there a compiled list anywhere?

I'm starting off with a CHIST PIST media filled bed. Eventually, however, I want to move up to something larger and incorporate the other two types of systems as well.

Many thanks,
Jaymen

You might try skimming the Plant section on the Board Index but this sort of thing gets mentioned only rarely as a separate topic. I'm pretty sure there is no compiled list anywhere except a general one for what grows in AP. We did at one point figure out that you can grow just about anything in AP media beds so the limitation is mostly size on this. We also came to the conclusion that all plants don't work in all systems, even comparing media beds to media beds. No surprise really since it's the same with plants grown in soil. For NFT I'd grow mostly leafy greens or strawberries. With DWC you can grow much more but have to figure a way to support it - see some of Ryan Chatterson's threads, he does pretty well with just about anything in DWC.

Hi Jaymen, TCLynx had a list in her thread in the last couple of months of what she grows in towers and beds.

That's a perfect start. Thanks, joc. At some point I'll try to compile a bunch of this type of information and submit it to the forum.
