Post subject:  Q: MKP dosage rate

Hi folks,

Ok so I bought some MKP (Monopotassium Phosphate) to feed the plants in my (currently) fishless system but I'm unsure of exact dosage rates as a foliar feed (seems most common way to use it on BYAP).

Also, if I am foliar feeding, is there a withholding period for harvesting the produce?

Any help and clarification that can be given will be muchly appreciated!

Hi Azira,i use MKP foliar 0:52:34 and i use a level teaspoon for my 5 litre sprayer, you can spray up to twice per week, handy if you use it against powdery mildew and there is no waiting period between spraying and eating, although i always have a waiting time between. You can dose the system with it although people will warn you off algae problems with the added phosphate.

Thanks dasboot, super helpful info. :) I think I'll just foliar feed rather than dose the whole system, I like how quickly you see a response that way.

I tell you what, AP is so much easier with fish! The other tank with my remaining trout in has no real issues, I need to get some more fish asap!
