Just thought I would share this. My silverbeet after some cropping went weird. The white stems went brown, the roots started rotting and the leaves went a sort of purple and very brittle. I cut all the horrible parts off and heavily sprinkled borax around the remains and watered it in. New shoots started after a couple of days and two weeks and they have lush green foliage and white crisp stems. I read somewhere silverbeet needs boron so gave it a try and couldnt believe the results. |

interesting I've got a similar problem with dark muted browny green growth on my silver beet that is very brittle, It crumbles in my hand like old paper. |

Heres a good reference on the topic, http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets ... rowing.pdf So it would appear I can add Boron deficiency to the list of AP deficiencies! |
