After buffering my pH up from 6.4 to 7.6 in one day with some crushed egg shells, my pH is still remains the same even though one week has already passed without using the shells.

How long will it take before the pH starts to go back down?

Everything will run very happily at your current pH range. I'd say just leave it alone. Also don't change it so quick next time, slow and steady wins the race.

To answer your question though, it depends on your fish load, and filtration. The more pooping /ammonia, the quicker it'll go down.
