Post subject:  Safe pests controls?

OK so I've searched around and can't find much. I do see that most people here are hesitant to use soaps and oils for pest controls. But are soaps and neem oil safe for the fish in AP systems? I've asked the soap question before but has anyone had any problems with it?

Gardeners use soaps and oils because they don't have the fish variable. From what I've read on the internet, neem oil companies claim that is safe for fish.

Maybe I'll have to try some guppy experiments here.

Anyone have any experience?

Thanks!!

I've used limited amounts of Safer Insecticidal Soap on my plants, being careful not to get any into the water. So far, so good.

i'm not looking forward to trying to keep some pests out.
the unfortunate truth is poisons are used because their so effective. i found that out recently with my snail and slug problem. i tried everything i could to get rid of them, but in the end the only thing that worked was pellets. got rid of them in 2 weeks flat. luckly i could spread them on the ground away from the ap setup.

the beer traps worked, but it was like a drop in the ocean. i spread the pellets out and the next morning my small yard courtyard was littered with dead garden snails. I reckon better then 40 dead ones all bigger than a 20c piece. their the bastards that have been eating my basil on me i think. I haven't seen many dead slugs, but the slug problem has vanished as well so they must be eating the pellets to.

I’ve used white vinegar mixed with water with great success. Also cyan pepper with water is good to.
