Post subject:  Planting year round?

Okay I admit that I am new to aquaponics. :wave1: I started small as recommended. I went with the 50 gallon drum system. I planted okra about two weeks ago and it was in the GB for only 5 days when I saw my first sprout. I have a couple of questions for you experts. I poured seeds across the bed and most of them came up do i need to thin them out? Also, I am looking forward and thinking when my okra is done I will plant something else. Can I plant a spring/summer vegetable now that we are heading into fall (Zone 8 NW Louisiana)? If I put my barrel in a greenhouse could I produce summer veggies throughout winter?

I did try to search these questions on the forum, but I get so overwhelmed with the amount of info out there. I am a simple mind.

Thank you for your responses in advance.

Some plants need a certain amount of sunlight to thrive, some need a certain amount of hours of sunlight to trigger whatever it is they need to do next. eg fruit.

A glass house will work for some plants but not others.

re thinning out seeds: a lot of spacing advice on seed packets presumes that there is a bit of a battle for nutrient, but some of it is just based on the fact that a cabbage needs a lot of space because it's a really, really big plant.

In aquaponics, if it fits in the space, it's probably fine.
