So the back side of my greenhouse now has fish tanks on its exterior. Ever since I moved my greenhouse for full light the direction of the sun both summer and winter only cascades through the interior of the back wall. SO I was thinking of maybe having a nice vine grow around the outside for a nice decorative look. Also to I know that sometimes having plant growth on a wall can aid in a small amount of insulation. I was thinking of cutting off some of the many growing honey suckles around my property because of how vigorous they grow. After some research I guess its Japanese Honey Suckle and is poisonous to fish. So Its possible but I would have to ensure nothing goes into the water and kills my goldies. I mean I do plan to have a good cover over the tank soon so I guess it couldnt hurt. The second option is some Ivy we have had since my sisters wedding growing in a pot in the house. Ive found people use it in aquariums and the fish actually eat the roots. Yet some sites say Ivy is poisonous, yet only one kind was listed "Ivy Hedera." Now I dont know which type mine is. I wanted to either start something in a small pot with some string or cloth to wick moisture to the plant. Ive also thought since my FT level rises about 3 inches when the pump is running I could have a shallow small GB above the FT allowing the water to rise up into it almost like a reverse flood, if possible. Also to if the plant would not be poisonous. It could give a little shade as well, not that Im in desperate need of shade. Ideas? I only mention the Ivy and Honeysuckle because I have them at my disposal....theyre free. |

Are you looking for an annual or a perennial? Scarlet runner bean has pretty flowers and good growth, and the beans are edible when they're small. |

Actually those looks awesome! I would like foliage year round so that would be a perennial then...I always forget. |
