Hi,

I'm looking for advice. I planted some chillie and pepper seedlings in my system just as it started cycling, 8 weeks ago. Cycling is now done with virtually zero ammonia or Nitrite, but I'm registering nitrate at about 40 ppm. So far so good.

The original pants just are not doing well, lower leaves are turning brown around the edges, they're showing a light green blotchy colour on many leaves, but the plants re upright with deep green new leaves appearing, but very few and very slowly. The soil planted seedling from the same batch are much healthier.

I also added cilantro maybe half way through cycling, that's doing well and so are my lettuce I planted around the same time.

I don't think it's iron deficiency based on Nate Storey's check sheet.

Could the plants be impacted by the high ammonia and nitrite in the earlier phase of cycling and simply not recovered? I did water changes to stop the fish getting hurt and didn't lose any (10 goldfish)?

quality feed, and lots of it... The system is still fairly new, but often cases of poor plant growth are due to a lack of feed, and or poor quality feed.

My first Chillies had a similar appearance to that,I found it was a potassium deficiency in mine, try the check list again for potassium.
