Running an aeroponics /NFT system and my basil leaves look curling upwards on the edges. I've read it's from over feeding and then I read it's a calcium and or magnesium deficiency. I just would like some input please. Thanks.
PH is 6.0 Ppm is 690 and I use ro di water. Temps about 73 degrees Fahrenheit. My Ppm was 1450 but since I noticed that the leaves are curling I cut back significantly.

Some of my basil did that too. Didn't seem to effect growth, saw no insects, and it was only on 1 variety?? Check underside for bugs, and if none, I wouldn't worry.

No bugs. The seeds are Burpee brand. Sweet Basil. Ocimum basilicum.

thorn, my basil has curled leaves for months. The same variety as you're growing...I don't think it's a concern. it grows good, tastes good, and smells great.

My basil in the AP has hardly grown at all, the basil i my soil patch is around 6 - 8 times the size and they were all planted at the same time from the same punnet. Other plants in my AP are taking off so I guess I'm no help at all :dontknow:

Basil goes nuts in my AP system. I ripped out 2 huge plants over the weekend to make room for lettuce.
Had to do it at dusk though because they are full of bees during the day.

To the OP, some of my sweet basil have curled leaves too and it has never been a problem

I believe curling leaves is normal for basil. At least it doesn't seem to affect growth or flavor.

Looks like sweet basil and curling leaves are normal. If they get real kinky and curly look underneath for aphids. The pic you posted looks pretty good for sweet basil

Yeah do I need a magnifying glass to see them? Because the leaves between the nodes are twisty and curly

My basil grows well. Leaf curl and all, but I'm not rying to sell commercially.

Had a lull in crops and wife bought a bunch from Woolies. She only used a bit, so I have planted. Were a bit limp for a day but look strong now.

My tomato plants have leaves that are brown, toms still tast good.

Cabbage leaves have holes in, still taste good.

I think we are so used to shop bought, pestiside ladin perfect vegies, we have forgotten, that it doesn't really matter what it looks like, it the taste, and the fact that there are no chemicals.
