What are the best varieties of tomatoes to grow in Aquaponics?

Can anyone recommend indeterminate and determinate varieties that grow well in AP?

My roommate prefers large meaty potatoes while I like colorful fruit with lots of flavor.

Your room mate will be out of luck expecting large potatoes from a tomato plant :D
All tomatoes will grow well in AP

Thats embarrassing, I obviously meant to type tomato. Although I have seen where people have grafted the two together.

Ryan Chatterson would be a good source for tom varieties. Amelias did very well as my first crop. Trying some Yellow Pear and Sweet Millions as well as some Giant Zebra and a few others. Should report back in a few months on these.

I'll second Ryan's tomato variety knowledge.

One of the ones I'm growing, from his collection is:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/350878696853 ... 1439.l2649
Ponderosa Pink. I can't wait for it.

I've also got Oxheart, Tommy toe, a few yellow pear varieties, romas, a baby roma (more of a cherry tomato), Mary Italian (I'd recommend that one), and legend is also fantastic.

Ebay is your friend when it comes to selecting tomatoes.

One I never had much luck in the ground is the Giant tree tomato, suppose to crop like mad, grow massive, and be very impressive. I haven't tried it in AP yet.

back on topic, I like gross lisse in the AP, though for some reason so do the rats :( Numerous cherry varieties do very well - didn't have much luck with romas in my system for some reason - seemed more susceptible to blossom end rot. (would get it while the cherrys and gross lisse didn't)

Yeah I know of this process but its a tomato grafted onto a potato plant. So you get tomatoes from a potato plant :D

Roma varieties are the pits for BER, havnt been able to grow a good one yet unfortunately.

I love heirloom varieties mainly. Tigerella, tommie toe, principe borgese, green zebra, grosse lisse and yellow pear. There are numerous other fantastic varieties too. Below is a couple of mortgage lifters I grew a couple of years ago..

And some random others I listed above.

Like mentioned though, all tommies grow well in AP.
