Whew! I successfully re-potted my 3 year old bird-of-paradise. It was centerpiece at our wedding.

I'm making a semi green house for him out of a shelving set. The back is a white shower curtain and there will be a clear one around the front. Lighting is 2 T12 daylight and 2 T12 warm bulbs. That should straighten out the twist from trying to get better light. Going to set a small humidifier in the bottom.

It's a major accomplishment to grow one of those in your climate

I hope that its one of the smaller varieties, otherwise you will be designing the house round the bird of paradise.

My mom got it as the centerpiece for our wedding almost 3 years ago. It is supposed to top out at ~6ft. It was about 5inches tall at the wedding.

If it gets too big it will end up at relatives's house in Texas.
