Found this online and wondered whether it would be beneficial to aquaponics. I live along the gulf coast of Florida and have access to tons of dead sea grass. I've heard of people using it as mulch. If ALL the salt was rinsed off it might even work as a media in a potted system. Instructions 1 Collect sea grass and kelp from the ocean and place it in a sturdy plastic garbage bag or container. 2 Place the kelp and sea grass in a 55-gallon plastic drum container and layer it evenly. 3 Add water to the drum and fill it to the top. 4 Secure the lid on the drum. 5 Place the drum aside and allow it to sit for about two months. This allows the sea grass and kelp time to decompose. 6 Remove the lid of the drum. Measure one cup of the water and pour into an empty gallon jug. 7 Add water to the gallon jug until full. Use the same ratio (1 cup kelp/sea grass compost water to 1 gallon water) to fill enough water jugs to water your garden. 8 Water your garden with the gallon jugs containing the compost water. |

I would wash the sea grass well first to begin with, get rid of the salt on it.. |
