Ok guys another noob post from myself .... Went out there too feed tonight and little migies I think all over my plants....... Should I be trying to get rid of these and if so how I'll upload a pic of a stickie trap I had out there

Yeah I no what you mean I do think they are just midgies but they can buga off

nice collection of insects there. Some of those in the picture are in my view encyrtids or Chalcid wasps. These are often the main culprit for being in the light fitting and dying causing SWMBO to get all upset :upset: and get her man to clean them out. :wave:
BUT they are 2 families of parasitic wasps, mostly of Hemiptera, (bugs - insects that suck eg aphids) :headbang: , Lepidoptera (butterflies, moths) :headbang: , Diptera (flies), Coleoptera (beetles). They can also be hyperparasites, that is parasitising other parasites. It is the larvae that parasitise eggs, adults or the larvae of other insects. They are really important biocontrol agents and will be assisting you greatly with pest control. :headbang: :headbang: They are 2 of my favorite insects. :roll:

The other black "midgies" seem to be everywhere at the moment and keeping SWMBO very busy hunting them down :funny1:

I don't see anything harmful in there... no Scarid fly etc... also bear in mind the mozzies and midgies are in plague proportions this spring thanks to the late rains we've been having.
