I have cleared my aphid problem using Tomato leaves,I saw mention on the interweb so I gave it a try,by all accounts Toms are part of the deadly nightshade family. Two cups of chopped leaves soaked over night in two cups of water, then strained off and add another two cups. My Chinese Mustard was absolutely covered,I had tried Garlic and Tobacco sprays which worked but it was an on going battle. The Tom spray used a couple of times cleared up the little white things that were in,on and around the mustard plus cleared the Aphids,we have been clear now. Saying that, sods law I walk back to the garden and they will be back, they were just waiting for me to say something, hiding in the undergrowth. Just to add,I only have a small patch of Mustard and the spray was used sparingly,so effects on fish is unknown,or if there is any, being deadly nightshade and all. The wife seems to have gone missing though

The most effective method I have found is picking up a thing of ladybugs, hosing off the aphids, THEN release said ladybugs. I found that when there are too many aphids the ladybugs freak out and ditch. When the aphids are waterlogged and disoriented, the ladybugs go crazy for them. |

In Thailand we would pick up a bag of ladybugs, but on the way home feel peckish and get home with an empty bag, still we could try waving the bag at them to scare them away.......
