Ok So does anyone have any helpful info on How is should transplant my 3 month old bell pepper I bought the other day? I don;t know if i should do it in the morning or the afternoon and do you think it will survive? Oh yeah you aussies thats a capsicum to you.

G'day jt,

I rarely get capos to grow more than afew months, I normally get a good harvest then pull and replace with something different. anyway, compensate root disturbance with a good top side prune, collect any fruit for seed and even give the prunings a go as cuttings, bit of back up. :wink:

Worms, capsicum plants should flower and fruit for nearly an entire year.... when they die right back for winter ... or just before spring... give them a good savage prune back to forming bud points and they'll happily come good for another year...

jtjf, if you're going to transplant anything..... then good water for a few hours prior, then transplant in the evening....

If a large leafy plant.... cut the leaves in half at least to avoid transplant shock....

it will take several days to a week for the root structure to re-establish itself and to be able to uptake water to the plant .... in the in terim, any large leaf area looses water through transpiration..... as it's not be replaced it literally sucks it from the stem cells.....severely dehydrating the plant

Plant carks it.... transplant shock.....severe wilting......

Thanks mate thats what i was looking for. Its just started to flower so I will pray it all goes well. I will water it again in the morn and then trans plant tomorrow eve.

I had to do the same thing.. the pepper plant in my AP sys. came from the dirt.. i watered it really good and did it in the evening.. just make sure you wash all the dirt off the roots and give them plenty of depth in your GB.
The reason i had to transplant mine is cuz the dirt i was using was pretty much crap. or lac there of :P
The AP system made it turn around in less than a week... it got its color back and started growing right

we just planted a small cap bush (about 15cm tall) a couple of weeks ago. I didn't think of different times of day :oops: I just washed the roots off and put it in the gravel. The plant was a little bit droopy for a day, then picked up and started running. The first fruit is about 8cm already, with more forming. The bush is still about 18cm tall.

yep thats wahat i do with most of my plants, wash the roots of most of the dirt , but i prefer to leave a little dirt versus assulting the roots too much ;)

Sorry If my memory is bad or something but I thought that I planted it out................um it was i the arvo tho so a bit cooler but I didn't cut ff any leaves etc just made sure the roots were into the deeper wet area and bunged it in, within a couple of days it got over the droops and is looking pretty good!
