I or worms from my compost, & don't clean them out, I simply placed them in the gravel (for the plants not the fish). I've read black soldier fly grubs are 'clean'& don't need cleaning. Various other grubs can be purged by keeping them in polenta or similar for a few days. If you compost is vegetable matter only I wouldn't worry about it, fish in nature opportunistically eat all sorts of unpurged grubs every day.

Thanks mate.
Lemme try that again. What I am trying to avoid is dumping a bunch of dirt into the tank -so if I have a big pile of dirt full of bugs how do I filter out the bugs ?? That's what I'm having trouble with ...

look into meal worms and superworms, they can be gutloaded very easily. alot of reptile people use them for feeding their lizards and the like.
