I am new to aquaponics. I started my IBC system in April. I have a flood and drain main bed and a nutrient flow attached.

The fish tank is below and I have about 20 2 inch goldfish and 5 3 inch kio. I live in NJ and we have had a cold spring.

But I noticed last week some brown spots on the lettuce leaves. I picked those off and today I noticed more spots. I don't see insects so I'm thinking the water.

What do I do is there a particular test kit? I thought these systems where self sustaining?

Thanks for any help
Dave

Sounds like bacterial leaf spot, and no, you can't really test for it.. Not really sure what you mean by self sustaining..

do you have a water test kit? - API master freshwater test kit contains tests for ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.. these are what you need to keep an eye on

api master fresh water test kit is one of the most widely used..
25 to 30 bucks from big box pet stores, tests ph (high and low), ammonia, nitrites and nitrates
