I want to grown black beans in my aquaponics system. Please tell me of your experience growing beans in aquaponics.
Also navy beans, white beans, red beans, etc. For green beans I grown yard long beans-they grown great here in Thailand, I just don't know about in a constant flow system. Johnra

Beans go nuts. The set heaps of flowers/fruits compared to other plants in the same system.

Broad beans will produce an absolute bumper crop, but expect the plants to take up all your space. Check out mantis's thread and my thread for any idea of how many broad beans you can get from a few plants.

I have CF and had three plants. I got over 1kg of shelled broad beans out of them. There was about 3kg of waste pod though!

How many plants gave you the 1 KG harvest?

How did they taste?

Hello Dr Luke,

Thank you for answering. I planted about dozen black bean seeds the day after you answered my post. I went away for the weekend and when I came back they had already germinated. Yesterday I got some bags of lima beans, white beans, navy beans, and black eye peas. As I set up my new beds I will try all of them. Thank you, Johnra

Three plants. Grew about a meter high each. Check out mantis's thread. He recently posted pics of plants twice as big.

I like the taste. But they are bitter compared to other bean varieties. Unlike many others you really do have to double shell them.
