I'm not sure how strange my problem is but, well I'm in search of some plants that would be good at stripping excess calcium from water.

Does anyone know of particular plants that would be good at using up some of the excess calcium my well water comes with? I'm really resisting putting in a RO filter but I've not had enough rain this season to be able to avoid the well water and I'm seeing signs of possible nutrient lock out due to elevated calcium. (See even when you use acid to get rid of the hardness and lower the pH of the water, the calcium is still in there.)

Tomatoes and peppers suffer from a lack of calcium so I guess they use it :dontknow:

Well the tomato plants seem to do fairly well with my hard water. I'm actually hoping for something that will use up even more.
I've already planted a bunch of kale in that system and I'm guessing chard, spinach, turnips, broccoli, cabbage and others along those lines would be good too.

Are you sure you're locking out Calcium TCL.... if you are.. you levels of phosphorus could be too high... or even Potassium...

There are inter-relationships between the three... and that's one of the reason to alternate Calcium & Potassium pH buffers...
