Post subject:  Which Plants for less than 6" growbed constrant flow

Hi there,

i have some plastic containers that are 6" high (27"L x 15.3"W x 6.3"H), and thinking of putting hydroton and growing some vegetables. The system would be always floaded (constant level), indoors in a condo. An existing planted 75 gallon goldfish aquarium would be used, which has ample filtration already. I want to know which plants i can grow, or which i cannot use, as i read the ideal grow bed height is 12". Due to space and looks, i cannot go over say 8 - 9", and for convenience, i would have prefered the long 27" length over having two seperate containers for easiest maintenance.

Here are the seeds that i already have at home:
Kale, Lettuce, Brocolli, Cress, Brandwine Red Tomato, Coriander, Basil.

I am open to other suggestions too. Alternatively, i could use alot of trellesses in the plastic container, and put hydroton in them, and simply fill with water. Probably easier maintenance that way too.

Wanna hear some thoughts on a small system. This would be my first experience in aquaponics, so inputs appreciated. Thanks.

thanks. should i go full hydroton bed (5") and water level at ~3-4", or should i do alot of trelis with the hydroton in it, and the container filled with water? I would keep water level steady (constant flow)
