These babies (squash plants) take a lot of space in the GB... could one minimize that by putting a cage around them to keep them in more of an upright position and less of a sprawled out way and still have them thrive and make lots of that wonderful food?
We eat zucchini and/or yellow squash here nearly every day so I would want to plant a couple of plants of different varieties but don't want my GB to be ALL squash

you could try wrapping the plant base in a semi clear plastic sleeve and have it grow up instead of out. with a cage they always poke through unless you train them and that can be a daily task. speaking from the dirt garden exp. still new to aquaponics

I would plant them in the dirt for that very reason. The plant grows quiet large in the right conditions
