| Post subject: | Java Moss |
Howdy all, I have been looking at getting some java moss for my tank to provide some cover for some Red Cherry Shrimp, to provide some more live plants for my dwarf gouramis to breed and generally decorate the tank. Does anyone have any experience with java moss and how it grows? I have read that it can grow quite fast with is ok. I dont mind having to cut it back every now and then and i wouldnt be surprised if it gets eaten by the gouramis. The seem to eat my other live plants. Also does anyone know of an online shop that i can get it from in WA? All the online shops i have found have been over east and wont ship here. I looked on gumtree but all the ones i could see were for trade/swap and didnt look like they would send it in the post. |

Thats what my plan is nat. Know of anywhere online i can get some? Or is it likely to grow in a river or something where i can just grab it? |

Most of the people over here in the states will send a little with the red cherry shrimp. Have you already got the shrimp? If not, see if the shrimp supplier will send some with them. |

I ordered the shrimp this morning. So they should be here in a few weeks. Unfortunately where i am getting the shrimp from can not import plants into WA |

Try to find a local aquarium fish organization. Java moss is very popular and a lot of aquarist will have it. Do you have any online auction sites? Mabe try Aquabid.com I know there are people on there selling it but if it is not local, I dont know if you will be able to get it shipped in, though some do offer international shipping. |

Here's another forum I'm part of. It's pretty much the best place on the net for talking about planted aquariums in Australia. Visit there and put a notice in the classifieds section. They have a WA section there that should help you overcome the WA quarantine issue. http://www.aquariumlife.com.au |
