I am thinking of setting up a NFT system to grown greens, lettuce, chard, spinach, etc. Being in Thailand where it gets very hot I am wondering how to handle the heat on the pipes. How much shade can one put overhead and still grown greens? Who on here has an NFT system so I can read about their system? I am still rebuilding my first system (Johnra's new/remodled 2012 system) and may add this system to that one or start a new separate system. My main concern at the moment is light requirements for growing greens in summer. I would also like to read and see photos of other peoples systems. Thanks, Johnra

Is this aquaponic? If it is then for any water culture method you'll need a solids remover or filter (I recommend a grow bed). Also, you're right about the water heating up. Luckily Deep Water Culture uses the specific heat of water (4.13J in case you were wondering)to it's advantage by making the sun heat up more water at once! posting.php?mode=reply&f=3&t=11810#This is one of the advantages to Deep Water Culture as opposed to a media technique. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_water_culture
